PROFILE
Amador Pérez-Tomás (Barcelona, 1976) received the B.S degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB, 1999). After working for Hewlett Packard/Caixabank for two years, he got a PhD in Physics (Wide Bandgap Semiconductors) in 2005 (Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, UAB). He was research fellow in the University of Warwick (UK) (2006-2008) and under a Ramon y Cajal contract (2008-2014) on the Power & System Group of the Institut de Microelectronica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC). In 2014, he joined the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) where he got a CSIC permanent position. Their research activities were related to advanced semiconductor oxides for nanoelectronics and CO2 capture. In 2024, he joined again IMB-CNM-CSIC for reigniting research on wide bandgap semiconductors.
His current research activities are related to the design, fabrication and characterization of wide band gap semiconductor materials and devices; In particular, Ga2O3, GaN, SiC and related materials. He has authored and co-authored more than 180 research papers in journals and conferences (h=34 cites=6200 – 09/2024). He holds 4 family of patents of which 3 have been licensed. He is/was founder and associated of two start-up companies Anvil Semiconductors Limited (2011) and Wismok ESP Barcelona SL (2014) and, recently, the ICN2/CSIC Spin-off LightNET Carbon Capture SL (2024).
