On November 2, the event “Electrificar el futuro en España: Energía, competitividad y autonomía” (“Electrifying the Future in Spain: Energy, Competitiveness and Autonomy”) took place in Brussels, Belgium. The event was organised by the association Spanish Scientists in Belgium (CEBE), the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers and Scientists Abroad (RAICEX), and the CSIC Delegation in Brussels.
During the event, Dr Guillermo Borragán presented the comprehensive report “Electrificación en España: coordinación multinivel y acción local anticipada” (“Electrification in Spain: Multi-level Coordination and Proactive Local Action”), developed jointly with three other researchers affiliated with RAICEX (A. Dr Xavier Jordà, from the PDS Group, delivered a presentation entitled “Power Semiconductor Devices: An Indispensable Technology for Efficient Electrification”, in which he introduced the fundamental technical elements required for efficient electrification and highlighted the essential role of power semiconductor devices as a key enabling technology.
The event was held at the CSIC Delegation in Brussels and brought together around 30 participants from diverse professional backgrounds who shared an interest in the social, political and technical challenges currently facing electrification in Spain and across Europe.
